Dr. John G. Flanagan Joins Zilia’s Scientific Advisory Board

Zilia is honored to welcome current Dean and Professor at the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry Dr. John G. Flanagan on our Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr. Flanagan is an internationally recognized researcher with extensive expertise ranging from ocular imaging to ocular blood flow and vascular reactivity.

Dr. Flanagan graduated in Optometry and Vision Sciences from Aston University, Birmingham, UK in 1980, where he later earned his PhD in 1985. During his career, he has received a multitude of honors for his work including the Certificate of Merit for Research Excellence (Glaucoma Research Society of Canada), the Glenn A Fry Award (American Academy of Optometry), and more recently, the President’s Award for services to the profession of optometry (American Optometric Association). He has supervised 45 graduate students and has authored over 175 peer-reviewed publications. In addition, he has 14 book chapters, 3 books and has given numerous invited lectures to both professional and academic audiences around the world.

Such scientific and technological knowledge helps Zilia make conscious and fact-based decisions in a complex and changing environment.
